~ Chippy White Sideboard ~

I absolutely love lavender. Summertime is when I decorate with my lavender decor, I sort of have it spread around in various places, this is the display I currently have on the sideboard in the family room. I used to have real lavender plants in the bed out front but they got so huge it was unbelievable! We had to take them out because they attracted giant black bees which I am terrified of. The scent of the plants though was heavenly. When we moved into our newly built house back in the summer of 2002, I was into the cottage/shabby chic style of decorating. Not long after that though I discovered primitives and fell madly in love! I still have several remnants of my cottage style and I still do like some aspects of it, chippy white furniture being one of them. I still have a few pieces which leads me to the main reason of this post. I have this wonderful sideboard in one corner of my family room and it is now the only white thing left in there so I'd like to find it a new home and replace it with a primitive piece.
Great, now you can see all the stuff I have stored underneath it! LOL. It is very hard to part with as it has been one of my very favorite pieces for several years now. I purchased it at a local antique shoppe, it was in need of some kind of a makeover so I added some details to it, painted it white, and heavily distressed it. I believe it to be from the 1930's and it is in very good vintage condition with two roomy drawers that work quite well. I am going to offer it up for sale so if you know of anyone who might enjoy this lovely piece, just leave me a comment with your email address. I am not willing to ship it so it will have to go to someone who is willing to pick it up. I am in the Richmond, Virginia area.
Have a great Wednesday....I am looking forward to watching "So You Think You Can Dance" this evening!

Oh, no!!! I LOVE this sideboard!! Don't get rid of it...you'll regret it, believe me...been there, done that!!! Can't you prim it up by painting it black and sanding and staining it?? It would be gorgeous!

Hi Colleen!....honestly, I do not have one inch of space in which to keep it or believe me I would!....I have my eye on a primitive piece that I really really want and can't even afford to buy it until I sell my sideboard! Janet

Wow Janet. That sideboard is beautiful, someone will be really lucky to have that added to their shabby collection. Thanks for the encouragement about my Dad. Don't know what's going to happen, it makes me so sad. He has rallied some and at least we've been able to spend some great time together. Still in the hospital though with pnemonia. Have a great day and good luck with the sideboard! Dawn

Janet I know you say you don't have the room to keep this sideboard but if you love it and could find some way to fit it in, you could not only paint it but you could cut off the lacey looking bottom and maybe take off the door and trim pieces and it would definitely fit into your love for prims. I hate to see you get rid of a piece that you love.

Hello Amy!....Thank you for visiting my blog!....I appreciate very much your comment about my sideboard....I know it looks like there's a door but it's actually just two large drawers and I don't think I could bare altering it in any way because it's so beautiful to me just the way it is and I'm hoping that someone will love it as much as I do....I don't know if the cottage/shabby chic style is popular elsewhere in the country but it sure is around where I live so I'm hoping it will all work out....thanks again for stopping by! Janet

I love the sideboard & it would look awesome primmed up, but I understand about not having the room. I love lavender, too. Good luck selling your piece. Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Janet ~~ It is a great piece, I hope you can find someone to give it a good home. That way you can replace it with a piece that fits in more with your makeover look to an earlier time period.
Good Luck !! Hugs ~ Connie xox

Really love your lavender display, looks so nice on top of that sideboard! Have a patch of lavender growing in my garden, and I love it! I hope you can find someone who wants to buy your beautiful shabby sideboard. I totally understand you wanting to sell it and find something primitive....hope it happens for you soon!

We did have fun at the casino, even though gambling isn't my thing. I think I won $4.00! Got a touch of the flu yesterday, but I'm going to open the shop today. It rained and was COLD yesterday, but I think we have summer back today. Have a great Sunday, Dawn

Hi Janet,
Your side-board is beautiful, but I can understand you wanting a primitive piece...I see ones I want but also do not have any more space. What a bummer!!
I went to your picture-trail and saw how you displayed the little pillow tucks that I made...they look great there. Loved looking at all the photos...your home is so wonderfully primitive!!!
hugs,
Cindy

Oh Janet, I don't take my Abbey for granted. She is so very special. Dad just lights up when she walks in!
I love yellow flowers too, but I think red has to be my favorite with our old yellow house. It sure was fun to get out and play in the dirt yesterday!
Have a great day, Dawn

Hi Janet,

Is your sideboard still for sale? I found your site after Googling for one. If it is still available how much are you willing to take for it and where are you located in VA?
Thanks!

Hi Liz...I am not sure how to go about answering you other than right here...I ended up putting the sideboard in the bedroom and am liking it in there so I haven't thought about selling it since posting about it on my blog last year.
