~ Spare Bedroom Progress ~

I thought I should post the progress that has been made in our spare bedroom that might not be spare later in the year, LOL The previous occupant of the room (son) may be returning! But I did get the window treatment up, found a cute curtain rod that has finials resembling the ends of keys. Since the ticking comforter at the foot of the bed has those keys on it I thought I would go with the key theme.
I've always had a thing for olde keys, I also got a set of three shadow box style framed keys that I hung up. Still need to get a mirror for over that sideboard. I've got my eye on one in a catalog I get called Cohasset Colonials but it'll have to wait, well that's all for now!

~ Busy Adding New Wares! ~

Well I have been quite the busy one adding new products to my web shoppe this week. I have an ad coming out in the next issue of Country Sampler which usually brings a surge of traffic to my web site so I wanted to be stocked up! Here are just a few samples of the New Wares I have added and there's more to come!

~ NASCAR Anyone? ~

I have been a race fan for many years and today is the start of the 2009 racing season! Although it has never been the same since Mr. Earnhardt died on February 18, 2001....I do still enjoy the sport. I will be pulling for Earnhardt Jr. and this year a veteran, Mark Martin, makes a full time return so he will be a sentimental favorite....GO 88....GO 5 !!

~ Is It Windy Where You Are? ~

Good grief is it ever windy today! A piece of trim actually blew off our house and husband had to retrieve it to nail back on once the winds die down, sheesh! I hate the wind!! I think it's so scarey! I can't imagine what it's like to go through a tornado and I hope I'll never know! I did however have a terrifying experience when I lived in Southern California, it was when the Santa Ana winds where blowing, I called them devil winds, they're horrible! One day I was watching tv and what sounded like an explosion occurred, the front window blew in, I was soooo scared! What had actually happened was an approximately 80MPH gust of wind blew a tree branch into the window and if I had been sitting on the sofa instead of the chair, I would have been hit full force with the broken window glass that was now all over the living room! Oddly enough one of my biggest fears has always been windows blowing in during those winds and it happened, UGH!! Is it windy today where you are?

~ Guest Room Wall Cupboard ~

Today husband finished the wall cupboard he made for me to put in our spare bedroom. He's really good about making stuff like this for me, I design it and give him dimensions, then he makes it! It's really difficult to photograph black stuff, I hope you can see it well enough.

I tossed some pewter items up in there and a towel I sell in my web shoppe goes well with the ticking quilt at the foot of the bed!

I'm sure I'll be playing around with the stuff inside for awhile, it's like a new toy!

~ Window Treatment ~

Ok so I just came across a window treatment for my guest room that I am seriously considering....I think I like it best of all because it is not a traditional curtain, it's colonial style, and it comes in black with a linen design which quite possibly could match very closely the woven round tablecloth I have on the nightstand!....what do you think?

~ Spare Bedroom ~

Our youngest son moved out in November and even though I wasn't ready for my baby to leave the nest, I have to admit that it's been nice to have a spare room to decorate....it's not done but I wanted to post a few pictures of how it looks thus far....it's a small room so the queen sized bed takes up most of it!

I found a really cool ceiling light to replace the ceiling fan that was in there.

I'm not wild about the lamp shade I found for the jug lamp but it will do until I come across the perfect shade.

The quilt at the foot of the bed has vintage keys stamped on it so I'd like to find some other kind of key decor for the walls....I did find a handmade heart that has a key on it to hang from a little shelf I picked up at an antique shoppe....I carry that framed print in my web shoppe and had to keep one for myself because I thought it looked really nice in the room!

I found the perfect sized little sideboard at an antique shoppe and painted it black, now I need to find just the right mirror to hang above it.

There is one window in the room, it has white wooden blinds, but I want to add a fabric window treatment.

I'm thinking of a panel swagged to the one side by the corner, here are some fabric swatches I got from Country Curtains, do you think any of them would work?....I'd love to hear suggestions!
Husband is currently making a wall cupboard for the room, I'll post a picture or two of it when it's hung.

~ A Wee Bit of Snow ~

Well this is the first snow of the season for us here in Central Virginia, I certainly hope it is not the last because it is merely a teaser. Typically our best chances for snow are in February so I hope there will be more to come!
The pictures are looking out into our back yard, and in the one below I tried to get a close-up of a few cardinals in my willow tree.
