~ Floor is Done! ~ Lots-O-Pics! ~

The wooden floor has been down a little over a week now and first let me say that I was totally unprepared for the amount of dust caused by removing 700plus square feet of carpet, good grief!!...hubs and I gave everything a good cleaning as we moved it all to make way for the floor and had to turn right around and clean everything again while putting it back!
I have updated my Picture Trail with all of the pics I've recently taken, but here are a few of them:

dining room:
family room:I purchased a 4x6 oval braided rug for under the coffee table but I'm still waiting for it
you see in this picture where my recently purchased primitive pie safe ended up standing
and the other new addition is this olde oak candlestand made by Don, Pat's husband (Olde Bittersweet Farm)...she is who made the make-do chair and they are having an update this week, be sure to check it out!

foyer:
the jury is still out on the slate...I saw a similar slate entry once in a house we looked at and have always wanted to do it but now that it's here, we are having second thoughts!...also, I want to add that the reason why it doesn't go all the way across is because there's a doorway on both sides of the entry but they are not directly straight across from one another so you can't draw a straight line from side to side if that makes sense

The green stepback got a makeover too!...hubs added doors to the top part, painted the whole thing black for me, painted the inside tan, then grubbied it up nicely with stain and I am thrilled with the results!...here are the before and afters:

BEFORE, green on the outside, yellow on the inside:AFTER, black and tan with added doors:
I've also posted all of my autumn decorating pictures to my Picture Trail so hop on over to have a look...have a great week!

The floor looks awesome! Your
hubby did a great job on your step back, I think the black looks much better than the green. Do you think you might like the slate at the
front door, more if it took up a larger area?

The floor looks great!! I know what you mean by all the dust and dirt under the carpet!! When we did ours I kept thinking how much of it was dead skin....too much dr oz!! lol.... I think you will enjoy the slate whenit keeps all the weather off your wood floor. My friend has it and I wish we did.Maybe our next home.

I hope your new rug comes in soon .... and I hope you & Don get to liking the entry slate. Try and take some time to walk around, sit and enjoy, both of you worked so hard. Janet,

Your floor looks great! What a change! We are considering replacing our family room carpet due to kids and pets and the difficulty of keeping it clean. I have been thinking of laminate that looks like old wood floors but some of it can be just as expensive as the real wood. I love the cabinet paint job too.

You must be giddy with joy at how gorgeous your floor is! It made it look so warm and elegant! I really love it! Your makeover on the cabinet is perfect!
I agree, the slate looks great and you'll like it when the rain and snow comes, maybe go the whole width of the front including the windows? It looks gorgeous! Great job Janet!

Janet everything looks so beautiful. I love the way the slate looks and it will protect your wood floors from anything that gets tracked in. The cupboard looks great in black and of course the wood floors are just perfect. Everything came together so beautifully. Now you can sit back and enjoy everything.

Both you and Don have done a tremendous job on this huge makeover, you both deserve to sit back and enjoy it now!

I do love the new wood floor, it seems to have added warmth to your entire home and as you know I am sooooo envious of the pie safe, I sure hope Don is keeping that "ship to Karen" list updated!

Your fall decorating is just perfect and I love all your new purchases. I especially like the little table next to your make do chair (just checking that is on the list too), it looks so simply prim!

Everything is just gorgeous, a mammoth job but so worth it now!

Hugs, Karen

Fantastic job on the floor Janet. You are so lucky. I hope you enjoy it for many years to come. Fabulous makeover on your cabinet. Smart choice going with black and the tan inside just makes the whole piece pop.
Enjoy your week.

Everything looks gorgeous!! I bet you feel like you live in a new house!
Love the new color and the doors on the stepback. And the old candlestand is awesome!! It looks perfect beside your make-do chair!
I must have missed a post about your pie safe?! I think I live in LaLa Land anymore! lol It looks great, though!
Where did you end up getting your braided rug from? Can't wait to see it!

Take care, my friend!

Wow! It is gorgeous!!! It doesn't even look like the same house. You must be so happy. I know I would be. I don't think the slate is bad. You could always put another rug over it if you really hate it. I think once you get use to it you won't even notice it.

I'm heading over to your pt site now....I LOVE makeovers!

Jenn

p.s. no new camera yet, just got lucky this time :)
