BEFORE: it was a dark taupe up top and sort of a candy apple red down below and it just never wowed me.
AFTER: so now it is Lenox Tan up top (same as the dining room) and Cottage Red (also Benjamin Moore historical) down below....the new red is a darker more country red, not sure if you can tell the difference in the picture or not but it looks way better to me in person!....I am standing at the kitchen sink taking this picture, that is bar countertop you are seeing in the foreground.
Here are a few more pictures of the breakfast nook:
My most primitive piece is this old stepback cupboard.
The drysink is really old too, probably 1800's.
I'd love to know the age of these chairs....I bought the table in one antique shop and the chairs in another....I found out that the table was common in the twenties and thirties but these chairs are so interesting to me and I know nothing about them, they seem really old.
I'm taking this next picture from the family room....the kitchen is painted taupe and I think it works nicely with the new tan, I just didn't want everything the exact same color....and the little hallway, as we call it, is the same sage green as the family room, there's two bedrooms and a bathroom on that side of the house.

Janet,
I love your breakfast nook!! Love all your prim/primitive decor!! Great paint colors...I them together!
I also have the no-no blinds right now that need to go, but we have french doors instead of the sliding glass doors.
Have a great week.
hugs, Cindy
I love your breakfast nook, Janet! What a change from the cottage look! Very nice.

The breakfast nook looks great. I especially love that dry sink and how you have it decorated. Super job!! I would have to say the prim look is much calmer than the cottage look. Isn't is funny how we can make such a change in such a short time? Thanks for sharing your great photos.
~Melissa~
I like these colors so much better. Love your step-back cupboard and drysink. What a big difference from the "cottage days"!
Oh YES Janet, just beautiful! Love the colors, the furniture, the accessories... It's all great! Thanks for sharing, Dawn
Janet ~
I love how your breakfast nook looks. I've never been brave enough to paint a wall red but have some red accent pieces. Love your dry sink & stepback & how you have them decorated. Thanks for sharing ~ awesome job.
Hugs,
Pam
The nook looks great Janet....love the colors...my kitchen is done in tan and pomegrante - so you know I love the combination. All your "accessories" look great too! Judy
Love the colors!! Cottage red is what I used on my front door recently and of course I love the Lenox too!
What a huge difference from cottage - much better now!
My grandmother had chairs like those so I assume they are probably victorian as most of her things were. They go great with your table!!
The dry sink is eye candy!! LOVE it!!
Love the new colors Janet!! I must say that it is my favorite so far especially over the cottage look (lol). Your prim decor is wonderful. I love your hutch and dry sink... WOW WOW WOW!!
Hugs,
Lisa
great job-- and I just love that dry sink!!
It looks WONDERFUL, Janet!
Love your colors! LOVE LOVE your drysink-well I love everything, but I just love drysinks-just something about 'em!
Boy-What a cahnge from the white cottage look...it turned out great, girl!
Have a wonderful day!

Everything looks awesome....enjoy your blog. Colors are so neutral but make such a statement!!! I think your chairs date back to early 20's and are called tea-backs, they appear to be oak in the pic and looks like a leather insert bottom. They look nice with your table---good contrast.
Prim frien, Sherrie
Thank you Sherrie for the kind words and for the info about my chairs!! Janet
Janet ...love all the pics you are sharing...can now picture you
in your home. We have all evolved from our early days of decorating, into this earlier time period and I for one just love it. You did a great job, your step-back and your dry sink

Have a great week-end ~~

Hi Margie!....I'm glad you found my blog too! Janet
Hi Janet, Thanks for the heads up but I don't know why just a few people are having trouble seeing it when we aren't at home and viewed it on 3 computers with 3 different browsers. My son is not having trouble either. I don't know what to do to change it orfix it other than delete the new background I installed. I am at a loss!! Any ideas?
Thanks Janet. I am now not sure if it is the background or Live Writer! LOL Lotta good that experiment did me!
hugs, Linda
Me again!!
I decided to start over and made sure I had the Minima template loaded first, and then reloaded the background it seems to have worked! YEAH!! I think the prior background messed with my HTML so that Minima wasn't totally loaded the same way.
Thanks for being patient with me!!
hugs, linda
Hello Janet!
Wow, what a transformation! You are a talented gal. Too bad you don't live near me, I have a shabby sheik bedroom that I need to prim up! :) It's funny how we change over time... take care and stay cool! It's been over 90 every day for a week here in Minnesota too!
